Meet Kellie Utroska

I grew up in the Deep South and have been fortunate to call many beautiful corners of the country home—from the wide-open plains of Texas and the rich culture of Mississippi to the rolling hills of Pennsylvania and the coastal charm of Delaware—before ultimately settling in Dublin, Georgia.

My career as a travel advisor is built on service, organization, and trust. From 2016 to 2024, I worked as a full-time volunteer coordinator, leading disaster relief efforts and training hundreds of volunteers across four states. Working with people from a wide range of backgrounds gave me valuable insight into the unique needs, preferences, and priorities of every traveler. That experience strengthened my ability to manage complex details, anticipate needs, and stay calm under pressure—skills I now bring to every trip I plan.

As your travel advisor, I’m not just organizing a vacation or making a reservation—I’m advocating for you, solving problems before they arise, and ensuring every element of your journey runs seamlessly.

In 2025, I partnered with Katie Knight, a full-time EMS professional who shares my passion for meaningful travel experiences. Katie specializes in family travel and is a certified Puerto Rico Specialist. She occasionally assists with travel research and provides additional support to clients seeking insight in her areas of expertise. While I remain your primary point of contact, Katie may occasionally assist behind the scenes or connect with clients directly on an as needed basis. Her passion for travel and dedication to helping others make her a valued part of the Romantications team.

The $10 Treasure: How a Curiosity-Led Detour Uncovered Our Favorite Italian Secret

It all began in a quiet village tucked into the Italian mountains. After a long flight and a winding drive, we arrived in Marone—a hidden lakeside gem that most tourists completely skip past.

Sitting on our second-story patio, watching the sun dip below the mountains, we made an executive decision: no crowded restaurants, no strict dinner reservations. Just a simple walk into town to find some local cheese and wine.

We stumbled upon a tiny, traditional butcher shop. Despite the language barrier, the owner couldn't have been more accommodating. We walked out with a spread of gorgeous cheeses, cured meats, and a bottle of local red wine.

That night, the entire group fell in love. The wine was spectacular—so spectacular that we made it our mission to hunt down more for the rest of our journey into Tuscany.

The Heist (Or How to Buy Wine Cash-Only)

Fortunately, I love a good travel mystery. With a bit of detective work, we tracked down the wine's actual distributor. It was a bit off the beaten path, but perfectly positioned on our route to Tuscany.

We walked into the distribution warehouse with all the confidence of people who knew exactly what they were doing. We tried our best to explain our mission in broken Italian, and we could instantly tell not many American tourists had ever attempted this before.

Just as we started to sweat, the woman behind the counter smiled and switched to English. We told her we wanted to buy a couple of cases directly from the warehouse floor.

She paused, gave us a knowing look, and said, "We don't normally do this... but if you are paying cash? It can be allowed."

We practically shouted, "Yes, we have cash!"

Minutes later, we walked out into the Italian sun holding two full cases of this amazing wine, having paid only about $10 a bottle. We felt like we had absolutely won the lottery.

The Secret Ingredient to Travel: With a little friendliness, a dash of curiosity, and the willingness to try the local language, Italy opens doors you didn't even know existed.

Oh, and in case you're wondering about the name of that unforgettable wine?

Mea Culpa. (Which translates to "My fault"—though we certainly didn't regret a single sip).
